Since realisation and implementation are crucial components of the postgraduate programme’s innovation internship, the following activities should be included in it:

• all (functional) design activities (calculations, simulations, drawings, …) involved in the development of the product, process or service
• the construction of a prototype or the implementation of test configurations of the product, process or service
• all necessary tests and verifications for checking the proper functioning of the design proposal (prototype or test configuration)
• all necessary design adaptations coming out of these tests

More classical and familiar engineering activities can be a small part of the project, but should not be the core of it. Projects limited to research and design better suit the criteria of the master’s thesis. The master’s thesis is focused on researching and designing in a scientific way, whereas the innovation project is focused on the development and implementation of a project.
